Unit 1 Study Guide

Columbus is credited with making one of the most important discoveries in American history. Most people admire his courage and determination to explore new lands and they consider him a hero.
Other people however believe he mistreated people and believe he exploited the Native Americans he came across.
Columbus day is celebrated in many countries in the New World (October 12, 1492).

The goal of this activity is to assess whether or not North Carolina should make Columbus Day a special holiday. Should we celebrate Christopher Columbus in our state?
